In the period 2009-2011 we promoted an innovative initiative both in Sicily and Tunisia (Action Verte Project, financed by JMDI and European Union) to help the tunisian immigrants in Sicily who wanted to go back to their country to invest there. The project, proposed by our expert of Maghreb and Middle East, Nino Trimarchi, obtained many interesting results and a lot of attention by several international donor networks as a best practice, but it was very heavily influenced by the concomitant “Arabian Spring”. We still maintain good relation with the Tunisian government and many Tunisian social and economic organisations.
